Life is Temporary
God doesn't promise us a long life however he does promise us eternal life.
When we experience the loss of a loved one the sadness can be overwhelming. When we realize how fragile and temporary life is it makes us even more sad and desperate. Here's the real truth -you don' t have to be sad or desperate. As Dr. Rick Amato puts it "we are spiritual beings having an earthly experience", therefore we are only here for a short time. By contrast life is amazing short in comparison with eternity.
Another truth is that our decision while we are here will effect how and where we will spend our eternity.
Therefore, it is important that we make the right choice with regard to our eternal home during our lifetime. We can make plans for our future but as you know our days are numbered, and the only one who knows what that number is -is God. The fact is we don't know what our future is or if we even have one.
At the time of our death when our spirits leave our body our eternal home will have already been established. There will be nothing we can to do to alter the outcome at that point. We all know that this life is short. But the same is not true for our eternal life. Eternity is forever. We will end up at one of two places. Heaven or hell. That is it. Two. Therefore, this decision should be simple and it should be one we make with the obvious choice of Heaven. But it doesn't always work that easy. Many people never get around to answering that question.
What is the most important decision you have to make today? Is it where you are going to college? Or where your meeting your friends for lunch? Or where you will invest your retirement funds? While all of those may seem important, those decisions won't do you any good when you take your final breath.
