Ephesians 4:22-24 (AMP)
22 Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old un-renewed self which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion;
23 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude],
24 And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness.

Philippians 4:8 (AMP)
8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

Proverbs 18:21 (AMP)
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].

12 Reasons God Hates Lying & Liars

Deception, in one form or another, is a regular part of many people's lives in our world today. However, much to the church's shame, many Christians continue to give in to the temptation to lie their way through life as well. What does God think of this? Proverbs 6:19 includes on the list of things that God hates, "a false witness who utters lies." Why does God hate lying? And why does he not only hate lying, but liars as well? The Bible provides many reasons. Here are twelve of them.

God loves truthful speech and truth-tellers.
Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man (Prov. 3:3-4).

Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal faithfully are His delight
(Prov. 12:22).

Lying reveals a lack of godliness.
He who speaks truth tells what is right, but a false witness, deceit (Prov. 12:17).

A righteous man hates falsehood, but a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully
(Prov. 13:5).

Lying is a mark of an unfaithful person.
A trustworthy witness will not lie, but a false witness utters lies (Prov. 14:5).

Deceiving people in order to get financial help is worse than being poor.
The acquisition of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor, the pursuit of death (Prov. 21:6).

What is desirable in a man is his kindness, and it is better to be a poor man than a liar (Prov. 19:22).

Lying is often motivated by fear.
Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me things that ought not to be done." And Abimelech said to Abraham, "What have you encountered, that you have done this thing?" Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife" (Gen. 20:9-11).

Hypocrites are addicted to lying.
Ephraim surrounds Me with lies and the house of Israel with deceit; Judah is also unruly against God, even against the Holy One who is faithful (Hosea 11:12).

Liars love impure conversation.
An evildoer listens to wicked lips; a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue (Prov. 17:4).

Lying is a cause of unanswered prayer.
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken falsehood, your tongue mutters wickedness (Isa. 59:2-3).

Jesus called Satan "the father of lies" and the devil excites men to lie.
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).

But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?" (Acts 5:3).

Lying often accompanies other sins.
Listen to the word of the LORD, O sons of Israel, for the LORD has a case against the inhabitants of the land, because there is no faithfulness or kindness or knowledge of God in the land. There is swearing, deception, murder, stealing and adultery. They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed (Hosea 4:1-2).

Liars will perish.
You destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit (Psalm 5:6).

A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who tells lies will perish (Prov. 19:9).

But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Revelation 21:8).

Truthful people will prevail in the end.
But the king will rejoice in God; everyone who swears by Him will glory, for the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped (Psalm 63:11).

Truthful lips will be established forever, but a lying tongue is only for a moment (Prov. 12:19).

As followers of Jesus Christ, the Truth incarnate, we are called to put away the old self with its practices, which includes lying (Col. 3:9). Therefore, let us make this our prayer:

Keep deception and lies far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches;Feed me with the food that is my portion, that I not be full and deny You and say, "Who is the LORD?"Or that I not be in want and steal, and profane the name of my God.
Proverbs 30:8-9

Every time you open your mouth, you are ministering death or life, & whatever you dish out is what you are going to eat.

We need the power of the Holy Spirit to help us tame our tongue.

Romans 14:10-15 (AMP)
10 Why do you criticize and pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you look down upon or despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God.
11 For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God [acknowledge Him to His honor and to His praise].
12 And so each of us shall give an account of himself [give an answer in reference to judgment] to God.
13 Then let us no more criticize and blame and pass judgment on one another, but rather decide and endeavor never to put a stumbling block or an obstacle or a hindrance in the way of a brother.
14 I know and am convinced (persuaded) as one in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is [forbidden as] essentially unclean (defiled and unholy in itself). But [none the less] it is unclean (defiled and unholy) to anyone who thinks it is unclean.

CHECK THIS OUT– THOUGHTS BECOME WORDS AND WE EAT OUR WORDS-
15 But if your brother is being pained or his feelings hurt or if he is being injured by what you eat, [then] you are no longer walking in love. [You have ceased to be living and conducting yourself by the standard of love toward him.] Do not let what you eat hurt or cause the ruin of one for whom Christ died!

I have no regard for truth, no respect for justice, no mercy for the defenseless.  My victims are as numerous as the sands of the sea and often as innocent. I never forget and seldom forgive. My name is "Gossip."

Scripture pertaining to gossiping Click Here

Slander-a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name.

Gossiping is divulging personal information about others, it is a report (often malicious) about the behavior of other people- INDULGING IN DIVULGING is a NO NO!

Complain
=Remain Praise=Raise.  When you feel like complaining instead think of your blessings.

You reap what you sow when it comes to your tongue.

WORDS FOR THE WISE:
Pray everywhere all the time- Rest your mind, find a quiet place, spend quiet time with God in prayer & in the Word-This is key to mind renewal. Your brain has been programmed with wrong thoughts for years.

Getting rid of those thoughts and putting God's thoughts in your mind is key to godly living and reformed behavior.  Out with the old and in with the new.

Meditate on the Word fill your mind with God's thoughts.

Trust HIM & Put HIM First.

Watch your mouth.  Words are tools.  Keep your tongue from evil & lips from speaking deceit..  Make a choice, hurt people with your words or bring your lips in subjection to God, and help people with your words.  Words express what is in our hearts.  If you want to find out who a person is listen to their words.
